COACH ELLIOTT ON JOHNSON: “Anna is a true competitor and is always looking to push herself to that next level. She is strong, athletic and very versatile on the field. She will add size and strength to our program and I am looking forward to coaching her.”
HIGH SCHOOL: Johnson was a standout in both lacrosse and hockey at Eden Prairie. She started every varsity lacrosse game during her four-year career, recording 65 points while helping the team to a 68-7 record. The team won four consecutive conference and section championships, advancing to the state tournament each year. In the 2014 state championship game, she scored the game-tying goal going into halftime. A three-time All-Conference and two-time All-State selection, Johnson had a breakout season as a junior. She was named the Midfield Player of the Year, was a UA Midwest All-American, earned a spot on the Minnesota State All-Tournament team and earned the Dreamers and Doers award. Her senior year, she was the team captain and MVP, earning the Athena Award, the Hobey Baker Excellence of Character Award, the Larry Olson Memorial Scholarship and the Eagle Character Award. She was also a 2014 Ms. Lacrosse finalist. With the Minnesota Elite Lacrosse Club, she was voted the Most Encouraging and received the Positive Attitude award. Also a four-year letterwinner as a right wing in hockey, she served as team captain her senior year. Johnson also earned Academic All-American honors her junior and senior seasons.
IN THE CLASSROOM: Johnson plans on majoring in integrative physiology. She is interested in science and math.
PERSONAL: Anna Christine Johnson was born on May 22, 1996 to parents Todd and Julie Johnson. Her father played football at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Johnson hopes to work as a physician after she graduates. She enjoys boating, spending time with her friends and family and attending church. In high school, Johnson was a member of the National Charity League and served as a recording secretary and social chair. She likes the Denver Broncos, Tim Tebow and country singer Blake Shelton. She chose CU because of the strong academics, beautiful city and promising lacrosse program.
