FRESHMAN (2014): Stapp was sidelined the majority of the season due to an injury.

COACH ELLIOTT ON STAPP: "Ella is a strong player who has a solid presence on the field. She is driven in all aspects of her life and excels both on and off the field. Ella is extremely coachable and we believe has a lot of potential at the next level. We could not be more excited to have Ella as a member of our team."

HIGH SCHOOL: Stapp played four years of varsity lacrosse at Mullen, building steam each year. She was the team captain her junior and senior seasons, earning first-team Academic All-American honors both years. As a senior, she scored 38 goals and contributed 23 assists, ranking 10th in Colorado, and was named first-team All-State. A 2012 ESPN player to watch on the West Coast, she scored 28 goals and contributed 17 assists and 35 ground balls as a junior.  That season, she was named first-team All-Centennial. Her sophomore year, she tripled her total goals from her freshman season (eight goals, seven assists) by scoring 24 goals and adding eight assists, helping her to an All-State honorable mention selection. In her five years with Team 180, the club won four consecutive Sandstorm Tournaments and back-to-back Vail Shootout Championships.

IN THE CLASSROOM: Stapp majors in business.

PERSONAL: Ella Kinear Stapp was born on March 24, 1995 to Robert Holbrook Stapp and Judy Hopkins Stapp. Her sister, Tulley, plays lacrosse at the University of Denver, and her cousin, Nick Rudden, plays baseball at Michigan. She enjoys going to concerts, hanging out with friends, traveling and skiing. Her favorite athletes are Denver Broncos Peyton Manning and Eric Decker. She has been a member of the National Spanish Honors and National Honors Societies for three years. She has received two Torch Awards and awards in biology, geometry and algebra. She has volunteered for the Lasallian Youth and Caring for Cancer Clubs. She chose CU to be in her home state, and couldn't imagine being in a place with fewer than 300 days of sunshine.
