SOPHOMORE (2016): Holmes appeared in two games and recorded one shot attempt and one draw control. She had a draw control in a 16-3 win over San Diego State on April 10 and attempted a shot in a 23-0 win over Saint Mary’s (Calif.) on April 15.
 
FRESHMAN (2015): Holmes saw action in three games during her first year as a Buff, all of which CU took the victory. The midfielder earned one draw control during the season and helped her team to an 11-7 overall record. Her draw control came as part of a 19-0 win over Presbyterian on March 2.
 
COACH ELLIOTT ON HOLMES: “Kaley is a tough athlete. She is willing to do anything and everything on the field. She is the type of kid who will battle for every 50/50 ball and isn’t afraid of a challenge. Kaley was able to lead her team to a state championship this season and we are excited to have her in our program.”
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Holmes excelled in three sports at Air Academy. Holmes helped the Falcons to a 65-9 record and three state championships. She played every minute of both the 2012 and ’14 championship games. A two-time All-American, Holmes led the state and ranked eighth nationally in ground balls. As a freshman, she was an all-state and all-league honorable mention. Continuing to improve, she was second-team all-state as a sophomore and earned first-team All-State honors her junior and senior seasons. She was a first-team all-league selection her final three seasons, serving as her team’s captain during her junior and senior seasons. Holmes also played club lacrosse with Denver Summit in 2012 and ’13. A shortstop on Air Academy’s softball team, Holmes was an all-area honorable mention as a junior and senior. She also competed as a guard with the basketball team. Holmes stood out academically, earning the Principal Scholar award all four years and earning magna cum laude honors as a senior.
 
IN THE CLASSROOM: Holmes hopes to major in integrative physiology. She is also interested in chemistry.
 
PERSONAL: Kaley Shay Holmes was born on June 9, 1996. Her parents, Todd and Stacy Holmes, work as a realtor and teacher, respectively. After graduation, Holmes wants to become a physician’s assistant. She has worked as a nanny and as a referee. She enjoys hiking, rock climbing and biking. She is a fan of Denver’s Nuggets and Broncos. In high school she was a student council representative, a member of the National Honors Society and the captain of her powder puff team. She chose Colorado for her major, the campus and the coaches.
