Bio
- 2000 Big 12 All-Academic first team
Junior (1999): Gausman played in all 20 games with 19 starts on defense and had two goals and one assist to go with 21 shot attempts. She scored the first goal in the season-opener, a 2-1 win at Kansas on Aug. 27. She assisted on the game-winning goal in the 73rd minute of a 2-1 win over Wyoming on Sept. 5. Gausman also scored at Texas on Oct. 17.
Sophomore (1998): After battling back from a torn anterior cruciate ligament she suffered late in Colorado's spring practices, Gausman recovered in four and a half months, just in time to start the season opener against North Carolina. Gausman started and played in 18 games, registering 10 shots and two assists from her defender spot. With her 18 starts in '98, Gausman moved to fifth on the all-time start chart with 36 career nods.
Freshman (1997): Gausman was one of the Buffaloes' most consistent performers, starting each of the team's 18 games and registering two goals on nine shots. She quickly established herself in conference play as a gritty defender with little tolerance for offensive intrusions.
High School: A four-year letterwinner for head coach Beth Moore and Rocky Mountain, Gausman led the Lobos to the state finals her senior year, where they dropped a 4-1 decision to Green Mountain (she registered the Lobos' lone score). Her statistical performances steadily improved throughout her career, culminating with her 17 goals and seven assists as a senior. She was a member of the Denver Rocky Mountain News' all-Colorado team as a senior, when she was also an all-state and all-conference selection, and was an honorable mention all-state and first team all-conference performer her freshman through junior years. She was also the recipient of the 1997 Dick Connor Adversity Conquered through Excellence (ACE) Award, given by the Denver Post to a high school senior who has overcome a handicap or tragedy to excel in sports. She was presented the award in recognition of her ability to overcome the tragic death of her sister, former Colorado women's golfer Lise Gausman, to excel in the classroom and on the playing field. She also participated in basketball as a prep and was a three-year starter and an allNorthern League performer at point guard for Rocky Mountain. She was a standout in the classroom as well, recording a 3.86 cumulative grade point average at Rocky Mountain, a mark which was good enough to earn her academic all-conference and all-state accolades each of her four years as a prep. She was also a member of the Fort Collins Arsenal club team which placed second in the state cup final in 1996.
Personal: Born April 16, 1979, in Kremmling, Colo., "Allie" Gausman plans to study psychology at Colorado, but a strong interest in elementary education has her planning for an eventual career in the field. Her father, John Gausman, played basketball for the University of Northern Colorado from 1965-67.
