Sophomore (2002): The 'spark' of the 2001 walk-on class continued that role her sophomore season as a starter the last 18 games at the outside midfield position.  She connected on the game-winner against Northern Arizona, her lone goal of the season, in the 49th minute of the game.  She, along with Fran Munnelly, took Colorado's corner kicks.

Freshman (2001): The spark of the 2001 walk on class, she came off the bench the first two contests of the season prior to starting the next 10 and the last two.  She got her first career start at San Francisco and was crucial in stopping the Don's first and only shot of the first half as she got credit for the team save when the shot from USF's Sara Simpson passed CU keeper Whitney Peterson before reaching Burgess on the goal line.  She scored her first career goal vs. No. 9 A&M when she took a pass from classmate Danielle Bickley at the top of the box and sailed it passed a diving Esther Thompson.

High School:  Burgess was a three-year letterwinner at defense and center mid at Bear Creek.  She was a second-team all-conference performer her senior year.  Her Colorado Storm U-13 and U-17 teams were the State Cup champions as well as Gothic Cup winners.

In The Classroom: An accounting major at Colorado, Burgess has turned in four Dean's List semesters (including a 2002 in-season 3.944)  and will carry a 3.821 grade point average (the department's 14th best) into her junior season.  As a prep student she was in honors classes all four years at Bear Creek.  She took AP European History as a sophomore, AP United States history and English as a junior and English and biology as a senior and BC calculus. She received the Junior Masonic Award as a junior and was the yearbook editor as a senior.  She was also a first-team Academic All-State pick her senior year.

Personal:  Alyssa Kirstin Burgess was born July 21, 1983 in Lakewood, Colo.  Her older sister Andrea is a 2001 CU grad.  She is the daughter of Craig Burgess of Littleton, Colo. and Inge Kaiser of Morrison, Colo..  Her hobbies include skiing, reading, hiking, camping, glacading and rock climbing.
