SENIOR (2011): Steiner started 18 of 19 games as a defender for the Buffs, helping them to a 1.95 GAA on the season. She also had seven shot attempts and was on the field for 1,463 minutes. She played the full 90 minutes against Illinois, CSU Bakersfield, Oregon State, Arizona (110 minutes), Arizona State, Washington, Washington State, UCLA and USC. The Buffs blanked Colorado College, Northern Colorado and California, all opponents Steiner started against.
JUNIOR (2010): Steiner secured her spot on CU's defensive end starting all 19 games she saw action in. She played 1,394 minutes, attempting four shots with one on goal. Steiner helped the Buffaloes record five shutouts in 2010 including a 1-0 upset over No. 10 UCLA and scoreless ties with Big 12 Conference rivals Texas and Texas A&M.
AT ARIZONA (2008-09/Fr., Soph.): She appeared in 34 games in two seasons for the Arizona Wildcats, starting nine at defender. She was an integral part of the back line and registered one point off of one assist. She made her career debut in a 4-0 win over Utah on Aug. 29 and made the first start of her career as a freshman in a 4-0 victory over Weber State on Sept. 5. Her first career assist came against Cal State Northridge on Sept. 21. She appeared in seven Pac-10 games and started six of them.
HIGH SCHOOL: She was a two-year letter winner in high school, in 2005 at Fossil Ridge High school and 2007 at J.K. Mullen High school, where she helped the team to a state championship. She earned second team all-conference as a senior. As a sophomore at Fossil Ridge, she was a team captain and first-team all-conference. While playing club soccer for Colorado Rush Nike under coach Erik Bushey, she helped the team to two national championships (2008, '09), a Region IV championship (2008) and the State Cup championship three times (2005, '07, '08). Colorado Rush Nike won the Disney Showcase championships in 2008 and were finalists in '05, and also won the Las Vegas College Showcase "Stratosphere Division" in 2007.
IN THE CLASSROOM: She is majoring in speech, language and hearing sciences at Colorado and is also interested in sports medicine. She was a member of her high school's honor roll four years from 2005-08 and was a Rotary Club winner in 2005.
PERSONAL: Her full name is Amy Theresa Steiner. She was born November 27, 1989, to Richard and Ellen Steiner of Littleton, Colo. She has two older sisters, Liz and Laura who both graduated from CU.
