Freshman (2002): Mutnick made five appearances as a reserve defender and had one shot attempt.
High School: Mutnick's Lincoln teams advanced to the state tournament her freshman through senior seasons. The Cardinals were the one of the top-two Portland Interscholastic League programs all four years, winning the PIL title her freshman campaign under the direction of head coach Jody Lim. She wasted little time making an immediate impression as a prep player. She was an honorable mention all-conference performer her sophomore and junior seasons and First-Team AII-PIL following a five goal, five assist season her senior campaign. She was voted the team's best defensive player her freshman, sophomore and senior seasons. She also played varsity tennis in 2000 and was a member of the club ski team. As a member of FC Portland , she played for perennial national power Portland head coach Clive Charles (who is also the U-21 National Team coach). FC Portland finished second in State play in 1999 and was a Final Four finisher in 2000 and a year later won states and went to regionals. In 2001 FC Portland attended the Surf Cup, Nomads and President's Cup. Prior to playing for FC Portland, she was a member of the PCU Soccer Club from 1995-98. Her ODP experience includes the 1996 District ODP team, 1997, '98 and '99 ODP State team and 1999 Regional ODP camp. She made campus visits to Oregon and Cal-Davis prior to deciding to attend Colorado.
In The Classroom: A 2000 Honor Roll student, Mutnick is enrolled in the Leeds School of Business following a prep curriculum that included advanced math and, science and Spanish Immersion (K-12). She has already passed all requirements for second language college courses.
Personal: The daughter of Jeffrey and Barbara Mutnick, Chloe Bess Mutnick was born October 14, 1983, in Portland. She has an older brother, Noah, who transferred from Montana to attend the Visual Arts School in New York City. An avid skier since she was three, she is also a born-again snowboarder. Her cousin, Rachel Chirnokoss (who Bill Hempen also recruited when he was at Duke), captained Harvard's women's soccer team during the 2000 season. She is bi-lingual and has been learning math and science in both English and Spanish since kindergarten. Her extracurricular activities include, but are not limited to, volunteering at Beach Elementary School with ESL students. Her hobbies include art, the outdoors, skiing, playing tennis, Spanish and graphic design.
