Kim LeMere
- Title:
- Assistant Coach
From 1989-92, then-Hartford head coach Austin Daniels saw enough of Kim LeMere's talents as a player to know he'd like to see what happened when those talents were translated into coaching.
Following a year hiatus from Hartford, the three-time All-American LeMere joined Daniels as an assistant on the Hawks coaching staff for the 1994 and 1995 seasons, and LeMere quickly became every bit as valuable on the sideline as she ever had been on the field. She rejoined Daniels at Colorado in the spring of 1997 after a stint at St. Bonaventure University, where she served as head coach for the 1996 season.
In her one year at St. Bonaventure, she took a squad which, a year earlier, had won only five games and led it to a 9-8 record.
After her graduation from Hartford with a bachelor's degree in secondary education in 1993, LeMere spent a year working with learning disabled students at the Forman School in Litchfield, Conn. At Forman, she was a biology professor as well as a house parent, and also served as coach for the varsity girls' soccer and lacrosse teams and for the junior varsity girls' basketball squad.
LeMere, 27, graduated from Hartford and the women's soccer program as one of its all-time great players. She was a three-time All-American and four-time all-region honoree, and was also a Hermann Trophy Nominee and the North Atlantic Conference Player of the Year in 1992. She was named the Soccer America Most Valuable Player in both 1991 and 1992. During her career with Hartford, LeMere led the Hawks to four consecutive NCAA tournament appearances and a 61-20-2 overall record. She is Hartford's all-time leader in games played (83) and assists (33), and is second on the Hawk's all-time goals (56) and points (145) lists.
