Fifth Year (2022): Started in 15 of the 19 matches she played … Played all 90 minutes in CU’s 1-1 draw at Washington State (9/29) and totaled 999 minutes on the season … Aided Colorado in six shutouts on the season … Wrapped up her college career with a total of 69 overall games played, 64 starts and 5,268 minutes played.  

Senior (2021): Cardenas did not play this season, recovering from injury. 

Junior (2020): Played in three games this season...Started two matches...Played two minutes at Utah (3/20/21) before suffering a season-ending injury.? 
 
Redshirt Sophomore (2019): Coming back from an injury, Cardenas started in all 22 matches for the Buffs...She led the team in minutes in her return with 1,978... Did not come off the field in CU’s 1-1 2 OT draw with California, playing in all 110 minutes...Helped Colorado to eight shutouts on the season...played all 90 minutes in CU’s second-round NCAA Tournament loss to North Carolina...Named to the inaugural Pac-12 Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll.
 
Sophomore (2018): Cardenas had her season cut short due to injury. She played in CU’s first three games, before missing the remainder of the year with a knee injury. 
 
Freshman (2017): Cardenas was a key part of CU’s 2017 season as the freshman led the Buffs to the second round of the NCAA Tournament as they broke the school records for shutouts (14) and goals-against average (0.61). She started all 22 matches at center back and played 1,948 minutes, the second-most on the team. The Buffs outscored opponents 29-14 when she was on the pitch, helping the team to a 0.65 GAA during that time. She recorded two of her four shot attempts during the season against No. 20 California on Oct. 5. Throughout the season, she played 90 or more minutes 18 times. 

In the classroom: Graduated with dual bachelor’s degrees in integrative physiology and psychology. She would like to pursue a career as a physician’s assistant after graduation. 

International: Cardenas was invited to the U-20 USWNT camp in November 2017 in Sunrise, Fla. She made her first appearance with a youth national team on March 4, 2018, for the U-18 USWNT, subbing on in the 69th minute vs. the Netherlands at the U-19 La Manga 12 Nations Tournament. 
 
ODP:?Cardenas was a 2015 and 2016 Player Development Program invite for SoCal Camp. She was also invited to ECNL/id2 national training camp. 

Club: She played for Slammers FC ECNL for coach Ziad Khoury, helping the team reach the ECNL national semifinals. Her team was also ranked No. 1 in ECNL for much of 2015 and 2016. Her team won the 2014 Cordial Cup championship in Austria. 
 
High School: Cardenas was a four-year starter at El Dorado High School for coach Kyle Thomas. She was named all-CIF Southern Section and all-North Hills League twice, as well as to the Top Drawer Soccer California State All-Star Team as a junior. She was also a first-team all-league player as a freshman. In 2016, she led her team to the league championship and helped it reach the CIF Southern Section semifinals and the CIF State Regional semifinals. Academically, she was a Distinguished Scholar and a member of the National Society of High School Scholars. 

Personal: She was born Hannah Lauren Cardenas on July 21, 1999, to Michael and Esther Cardenas. She has two brothers Matthew and Ryan, who served as a combat medic for the U.S. Army. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, going to the beach, drawing, painting and spending time with her family. She also volunteers at Cory’s Kitchen, an organization that provides emergency food to families in need and is a Sunday School teacher at Calvary Chapel. Cardenas chose CU because of the “strong academics as well as the beautiful campus and the ability to compete in the Pac-12 Conference. I’m really excited to play for an elite program. The minute I stepped on campus and met the coaching staff, I knew CU was the perfect fit for me.”
