High School: Burgett is a 1994 graduate of Foothill High School in Pleasanton, Calif., where she was a four-year letterwinner for coach Gerri Sherman. She earned first-team all-league accolades her senior year, was voted her team's "Most Inspirational Player" her sophomore through senior seasons and also won the "Senior of the Year" award for all-around excellence following her final campaign. She recorded 14 shutouts in both her junior and senior seasons, when she registered goals against averages of .26 and .28, respectively, helping Foothill to a combined two-season record of 29-2-8. She played every minute of every game her final two years as a prep. Foothill won the league championship in Burgett's freshman, junior and senior seasons, with Burgett's freshman squad also the winner of California's North Coast Championship in 1991. She was also a standout softball player, earning three letters at third base and garnering second-team all-league honors as a junior and senior. She was a recipient of the school's Johnson Award, given for "embodying the spirit of high school athletics," and she played on more championship teams than any other athlete in Foothill history. Burgett was an all-star in the classroom as well, as she earned Foothill's Scholar Athlete Award each of her four years and finished her prep career as a four-year letterwinner in academics. She was Foothill's student body president as a senior and was also named homecoming queen in her final year at the school.

Personal: Born May 11, 1976, in Wilmington, Del., Burgett is majoring in communications at Colorado and was a first-team academic all-Big 12 selection in 1996. Her parents are Charles and Carolyn Burgett of Pleasanton, Calif. She's earned a reputation as one of Colorado's hardest workers in the weight room, often logging personal time conditioning after required workouts are finished. One of her best friends is former Colorado hoopster Lauri Weathers.
