Junior (2001): Burgener made three starts and 12 appearances at forward as a junior, recording one assist and six shot attempts. She had an assist on Tiffany Booth's game-winning goal in the 55th minute against Texas Tech on Nov. 2. She also earned starts against Oklahoma, Missouri and Baylor.

Sophomore (2000): Burgener scored Colorado’s first goal of the season, a soaring header against Pac-10 foe Arizona State in the Buffs’ third game of the season. She scored two crucial goals in the shutout of then-undefeated Colorado College, the first multiple-goal game of her career. Burgener was a full-time starter until the Nebraska game (Oct. 20), when she was diagnosed with a torn ACL. She had torn the same ligament as a prep, and re-injured the knee the week leading to the Husker game. She sat out the remainder of CU’s four games. Her six points was the fourth-most productive of the season and ranks fifth in Colorado’s all-time charts, as were her 35 shots on goal.

Freshman (1999): Burgener saw action in six games last season, bringing speed and skill to the midfield position. She registered three shots with two shots on goal, her first collegiate shot coming against Nebraska on Oct. 10. She earned her first career assist in the Big 12 tournament match against Missouri.

High School: Burgener was nothing short of a tremendous athlete at Fairview High School, as she was the first female in school history to letter 12 times, lettering four times apiece in softball, basketball and soccer. In soccer for the Knights, Burgener earned honorable mention all-state honors as a junior scoring 10 goals and tallying 14 assists, and was named all-Centennial League as well as all-Boulder County both as a freshman and sophomore. On the club side, Burgener played for John Welsch on his F.C. Boulder squad that took second place in the CSYSA State Cup in 1998. She also played for the Colorado Olympic Development Program’s State Select team in 1995. Burgener was also a standout on the softball diamond, earning second team all-Centennial League honors as a freshman, and was selected as the league’s MVP as a senior in 1998, sparking interest from UC-Berkeley, UNC-Asheville, Air Force and Seattle Pacific to play ball.

Personal: Born October 22, 1980, Burgener is the daughter of Glen and Pat Burgener. Off the playing fields and courts, Burgener has been a standout in the classroom, owning a 3.5 cumulative GPA in high school and serving as the class vice president as a junior at FHS. Burgener is not the only athletic standout in her family, as her brother Jami plays soccer at Air Force, and sister Jodi plays softball at Miami (Ohio) University. She is not the first of her family to attend CU either, as her brother Bo is a worship leader for a University of Colorado campus ministry. She lists the biggest moment of her high school career as making varsity in all three sports as a freshman, and also proving to others that she could play all three and be successful at each. She selected Colorado over San Francisco, Texas, Utah, Montana, Air Force and UNC-Asheville.

In The Classroom: A psychology major in the College of Arts & Sciences, Burgener eclipsed the 3.00 grade point average mark this past spring.
