Freshman (2001): Douglas walked on to the team and made five appearances as a freshman off the bench as a midfielder.

High School: A four year letterwinner at Longmont High School for head coach Brian Drotar, the Trojans were the 2001 regional winners advancing to the state tournament before falling to Thunder Ridge in the first round. Douglas was an Honorable Mention All-Northern Conference pick her sophomore and junior seasons before adding first-team accolades to her resume following her senior season. On the club side she played for former CU volunteer assistant John Walsh and FC Boulder which advanced to the semifinals in state cup in 2001 and were the Premier 1 Champions while winning the Heartland (Kansas) Showcase Tournament and Littleton United Tournamnent. That same 2001 team went through the club season with just one loss. Club teammate Sara Simpson will be a freshman on the San Francisco soccer team this fall, and the two will be on opposite benches when the teams meet on Sept. 7.

Personal: Katherine Blair Douglas was born April 5, 1983 in Denver. She is the youngest of Clay and Helen’s three children and the third to attend CU. Her oldest brother, Ian, graduated from the Boulder campus in 1998 and Graham, this August. She enjoys mountain biking and is an avid snowboarder. A competitive gymnast for 10 years (she competed from the ages of 3 to 13 for a Berthoud (Colo.) club), she began playing soccer at 10, following in her brothers’ footsteps.

In The Classroom: Douglas will be an Mollecular Cellular and Developmental Biology major at Colorado. As a prep, she was a four-year academic letterwinner, a National Honor Society member, student body secretary as a senior and a member of the student senate as a junior. She was awarded a four-year science award in 2001 and won a Lions Club Student-of-the-Year Scholarship her senior year as well.
