Freshman (1996): Young appeared in 11 games as a backup forward and had one assist and four shot attempts. She earned an assist in a 4-1 win over Wyomig on Sept. 25.

CU Club Team: She enrolled at Colorado in the fall of 1995. Young was another one who helped lead the Buff's club team to a national title.

High School: Attended Stevens High School, Rapid City, South Dakota. South Dakota did not have high school soccer, so Young participated with various club teams instead. She was a member of the National Honor Society her junior and senior years and was also a member of the National Forensic League, which is a debate team.

Personal: Her major is undecided. Young was born January 28, 1977, in Crosby, Minn. Her parents are Alan and Brenda Young. Her father, Alan, played hockey at the University of Minnesota-Duluth and then went on to play for the Omaha Knights and the Houston Oilers of the World Hockey League. Her full name is Kia Jane Young.
