AT NEW MEXICO: Hempen's fifth college transfer in two seasons, McBride finds her way home after two seasons on the University of New Mexico roster. As a freshman, she had a solid debut at center defense, as she was just one of two frosh to start all 21 games for the Lobos while registering a single shot in UNM's 4-1 loss at UTEP. She maintained her starting role in all 19 contests as a sophomore and recorded eight shots and a single shot on goal and was an all-Mountain West selection. In two seasons in Albuquerque, the Lobos were 15-20-5 overall, 4-6-2 in Mountain West play.

HIGH SCHOOL: As a prep player at Denver East, she lettered four seasons for coach Theresa "Tee" MacDonald at sweeper, midfield and defense. She was a two-time all-conference selection and all-state pick as a senior. McBride was also a two-time Most Valuable Defender for the Angels. As a member of coach Jon Jacobs' Colorado Storm team, she claimed a state title in 2000 and reached the regional semifinals in '01. The Storm also captured the WAGS championships in 2000 and reached the state finals in '01. An honor roll student at Denver East and was named Outstanding Student­Athlete in 2000. A four-sport athlete at Denver East, she also lettered in basketball (where she was an all-state point guard as a senior and all-Denver Prep League player her sophomore through senior seasons), cross country and track.

IN THE CLASSROOM: A four-year Principal's Honor Roll student at Denver East, McBride is a pre­communications major at CU. She would like to pursue a career as a broadcast journalist for ESPN after college.

PERSONAL: Marissa Erin McBride was born Nov. 27, 1984 in Denver to John and Marilyn McBride. Her older brother Ryan was an all-conference basketball player at Monterey Peninsula and her younger brother, Aaron, is a sophomore at Denver East. Prior to her father's career as a political consultant (he's worked for all three of former Denver Mayor Wellington Webb's campaigns), he played football at Michigan State and was a free safety for the New York Jets in the 1970s.
