FRESHMAN (2004): Snapp played in eight games as a reserve defender and had one shot attempt in 89 minutes. She saw a season-high 42 minutes of action vs. Texas Tech on Oct. 17.
High School: A member of Mullen's 2001 and '02 4A state and 2001-04 regional championship teams. The four-year starter at midfield netted three goals in Mullen's 2004 season. Snapp was a second-team All-Centennial League performer as a junior and first team her senior season. She played for coaches Paul Bravo and Erik Bumhe and the Colorado Rush which won the Colorado State, Orange Classic and Raleigh Showcase tournament titles in 2002 and the Disney and Raleigh Showcase crowns in '03.
In The Classroom: An open option major at CU, she was an academic honor roll student for four years, she was also a member of the National Honor Society her sophomore through senior years at Mullen. As a junior she received the Torch Award, recognizing an outstanding student with community service activities. At Mullen she was also a member of the junior and senior class leadership. She's an open option major at CU, but is interested in pre-med and applied physiology as she would like to practice medicine in a Third World Country.
Personal: Maria Catherine Snapp was born Jan. 2, 1986 in Cheyenne, Wyo. She is the daughter of Michael (who competed in trampoline at Colorado State in the 1960s) and Mary Snapp. Her oldest brother Matthew, a 2003 Arizona State grad, is traveling through Europe writing novels and her older sister Marissa is a 2001 Kansas State grad. Her influence to work in Third World Countries stems from her mom who is an ESL teacher at the Emily Griffith Opportunity School in Denver, where Snapp volunteers, working with young adults. Her other volunteer work includes soup kitchens, Habitat for Humanity and teaching at a low-income school located near Mullen. Her hobbies include snow skiing, surfing and yoga. Lf the fourth generation CU student graduates in 2008, it will mark the 100th anniversary of her paternal great, great ,grandfather's (Harper Orahood) graduation from the Boulder campus.
