Sophomore (1998): Vette made six appearances as a defender and midfielder after transferring from UAB.
UAB: Vette played for coach Paul Harbin at the University of Alabama-Birmingham her freshman year before transferring to Colorado for this season. Vette played in 16 of 20 matches, starting three and notching an assist as UAB earned an 8-10-2 record, 5-4-0 in Conference USA.
High School: A four-year letterwinner for head coach Terry Hair, Vette earned first-team all-Sunflower and all-Northeast Kansas honors her final three years at Olathe East. Vette also earned first-team all-state (coaches poll and Kansas City Star) accolades her senior year, and as a junior was the Olathe Wendy's Heisman Scholar Athlete. Playing from the defender position, she managed to score five goals and tally seven assists as a senior. Her club team, the Kansas City Cosmos won the Kansas State Cup club championship all four of her high school years under coach Ramon Tau. She lists cup wins over regional foes from Michigan and Arizona as the biggest wins of her high school career.
Personal: Born Oct. 27, 1978 in Denver, Vette will be studying anthropology and Spanish at Colorado. She was a standout academically at Olathe, where she was a Kansas Honor Scholar, a member of the National Honor Society and a four-year member of the Principal's Honor Roll. Her hobbies include bicycling, hiking and occasional writing. Vette was also considering Kansas, South Carolina and San Diego State before deciding on UAB prior to transferring to CU.
