SENIOR (2016): Stanton led the Buffs to one of their best seasons in school history, serving as a team captain on a squad that reached the NCAA Tournament and finished second in the Pac-12. She started all 22 matches at central midfielder, serving as they key player in CU’s transition from defense to offense. She led the Buffs with 1,894 minutes on the field throughout the year and attempted seven shots. Stanton was named Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 11 after helping hold Oregon and Oregon State to a combined eight shots in goal in two wins. She also earned Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention with a 3.09 cumulative GPA.

JUNIOR (2015): Stanton started 16 of the 19 matches she played in as a center midfielder for the Buffs. She saw action in 1,243 minutes and was key in the team’s defensive efforts during the year as the team had a 1.38 goals-against average when she was on the field. Stanton attempted one of her three shots on the season and saw action in 76 minutes in a 1-0 win over Denver on Sept. 11 to clinch the Colorado Cup trophy for CU. She also attempted a shot against Iowa State and Utah.
 
SOPHOMORE (2014): Stanton had an impressive debut season for the Buffs. She started all 22 matches and accumulated 1,773 minutes, fourth most on the team while playing a pivotal role in the midfield. She also was on the pitch for the entire time in eight contests during her sophomore campaign. She recorded her first point as a Buffalo in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, tallying the assist on CU’s second goal of the match as the Buffs went on to win, 2-0, and advance to the second round of the tournament. She also had three total shots and helped Colorado shutout 12 opponents, tying a single-season program record. Her performance in the Buffs’ regular season finale against Utah earned her Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week honors when she led CU to its 11th shutout at the time and held the Utes to only 11 total shots.
                          
FRESHMAN (2013 at SANTA CLARA): Stanton saw action in seven of the Broncos’ games. Her one shot, taken in Santa Clara’s 1-0 overtime victory over Fresno State, was on goal.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Stanton played one year of soccer at Bear Creek, earning first-team All-Conference honors as a sophomore, but chose to focus her attention primarily on her club team, Colorado Rush. The captain of her U-11 to U-18 teams, Stanton helped the club to a U-18 ECNL finalist spot. She was also a W-League member from U-14 through U-18. She was named an NSCAA Youth All-American in 2012 and ’13. Stanton was a member of the U-13-U-15 State and Regional ODP teams. In the U.S. National Team Pool from U-14 to U-20, Stanton was a member of the U-17 World Cup team, scoring a goal against Gambia. Stanton ranked 23rd in the Top Drawer Soccer IMG Academy 150, also ranking fifth in the Rocky Mountain and Southwest Region and eighth amongst midfielders.  
 
IN THE CLASSROOM: Stanton is majoring in sociology with a minor in ethnic studies.
 
PERSONAL: Morgan Danielle Stanton was born on February 4, 1995. Her parents are Dan and Renee Stanton, a business owner and a customer service manager, respectively. She has a younger sister, Julia. She enjoys playing with her dogs and hanging out with family and friends. She volunteered with the Rush REACH program. Though she has lived in Colorado her whole life, and traveled to many other countries around the world, she has never skied or snowboarded. Stanton chose Colorado to be closer to home and to attend a beautiful school.
