Bio
Senior (2003): Ripmaster, who was originally recruited by Hempen to Duke, made her one season in Boulder count as she started all 20 games and led the Buffs to the Big 12 regular-season championship and the NCAA Tournament. She scored five goals and had two assists for 12 points on 35 shot attempts. Ripmaster had an assist in back-to-back games in early September, road wins at Denver and Wyoming. She opened her scoring column with back-to-back two-goal games in early October. Ripmaster scored twice in a 2-0 win over Baylor on Oct. 5 and added two more goals in a 6-0 win over Minnesota five days later. She also had the game-winning goal against Kansas on Oct. 17 in a 2-1 victory.
At Harvard: A three-year letterwinner (1999-01) for the Crimson, Ripmaster graduated as Harvard's 11th all-time assists leader with 14 in just three seasons. She also registered eight goals for 30 points in 51 games played and 44 starts. Harvard went 37-15-1 and won the 1999 Ivy League title with an unblemished 7-0-0 league record and advanced to three-straight NCAA Tournaments, including the Sweet 16 round of the '00 championship before dropping a 2-0 decision to then-unbeaten and untied Notre Dame. Her freshman season she was Ivy League Rookie of the Week after netting two goals in Harvard's 5-0 win over Cornell. She would repeat league player of the week accolades again as a junior, and again at the mercy of Cornell. She was nationally ranked in assists most of her junior season. A two-sport athlete at Harvard, she was also a midfielder on the 2001 and '02 women's lacrosse teams that combined for a 12-18 record and the '01 ECAC Championship.
High School: Ripmaster was a three-year starter, captain, MVP and 3A all-state player at Alexander Dawson from 1996-98. On the club level, she played for the Colorado Rush and was a member of the Rush's regional and national champion team in 1996, '99 and '00. Her 2000 Rush U-19 team defeated the Northport (N.Y.) club. The '96 version of the Rush won the Copa Cataluna (Spain), Holland and Gothia (Sweden) European Cups while her '99 team won four national titles (U-17, U-19, U-23 and Open) with Ripmaster on both the U-23 and Open teams.
In The Classroom: After spending the spring '02 semester studying abroad in Paris, she graduated from Harvard in June having after having spent every semester on the Dean's List degree in the romance languages and literature. At Colorado she will begin her graduate work in the school of mass communication and journalism.
Personal: Born September 4, 1980 in Boulder, Lauren Elizabeth Kivett-Ripmaster is the daughter of former CU gridiron center Joel (1965-67) and Margie who are both long standing members of CU's Buff Club. Her older brother, Austin, was a forward on Indiana's men's soccer team and was a member of the Hoosiers' 1998 NCAA Championship team. At Harvard she served on the University's Undergraduate Advisory Committee, the Student Faculty Judicial Board, was a member of the Harvard Radcliffe Foundation of Women's Athletics Committee, was a member of the Bureau of Study Council. Swas an academic on-call peer tutor and co-founded the Harvard Harry Potter Club.
