HEMPEN ON VITACCA: Taryn wants to have a good senior year, and we want her to have a good senior year. Last year was the first time she became a starter for part of the year. We're hoping that her senior year is the best because she's been right there on the cusp of making something great happen.

SENIOR (2010): Vitacca played in 13 games. She was part of CU's starting lineup for the first time during the 3-1 win over ISU at home. She scored her first career goal on a penalty kick in the 4-2 loss to UNLV. She also contributed an assist on Amy Barczuk's goal in her final regular season game as a Buff when CU beat Nebraska 2-1.

JUNIOR (2009): Vitacca started in all eight games she played in during the 2009 season before she injured her hamstring during a 4-0 loss at Stanford which kept her out for the remainder of the season.

SOPHOMORE (2008): Vitacca played in 12 games at defender for CU, logging 202 minutes on the season.

FRESHMAN (2007): As one of CU's defenders, Vitacca saw action in 12 of CU's 22 games and started three-consecutive games towards the end of the season against Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.

HIGH SCHOOL: Vitacca was a four-year letterwinner at Juan Diego Catholic High School for coach Jamie Schock. Vitacca led her team to a 3A State Championship in 2006 and a semifinal finish in 2004. As the varsity team captain, she earned first-team All-State honors in 2006 and second-team honors in 2004 and '05. Vitacca was a member of the Utah Avalanche '88 club team that won seven straight state championships from 2000-06. She also helped lead the Avalanche to the regional finals in 2006 and semifinals in 2005. Vitacca was a member of the Junior Olympic Development team in 2002, state in 2003-06 and was called to the Region IV Camp in 2003, '04 and '05. She also was the Editor-in-Chief of her high school newspaper.

IN THE CLASSROOM: Vitacca is a communications major at Colorado.

PERSONAL: Taryn Jae Vitacca was born on July 19, 1989 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She is the daughter of Roco and Jennifer Vitacca and has one older sister, Kara. She enjoys skiing and reading during her free time.
