“Ali is an important addition to the Buffaloes’ family as she is the epitome of a successful student-athlete. She provides important depth in the right side hitter and middle blocker positions with good physical size and is completely committed to her pursuit of excellence in all she does. We are excited that she will don a Buffs jersey and represent this university.”

High School

Flynn is a 6-2 outside hitter from Aptos, Calif. She earned three letters at AHS and led the Mariners in kills as a junior and senior. Flynn recorded 255 kills as a senior and notched 202 her junior year to lead her team both seasons. AHS won the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League Championship in 2006 and ’09. She was named first team all-league her senior year as well and to the Harbor High Invitational All-Tournament team.

She played for the Vision VBC in 2010 and was a member of the Main Beach VBC for four seasons. Her team won the California Kickoff Tournament and the Southern California Junior National Qualifier; as well as the Silver Division at the USAV Junior Olympics. Vision took top honors at the Colorado Crossroads tournament. Flynn was also recruited by UC Irvine, UC Santa Barbara, San Francisco, Oregon and Pacific before choosing Colorado for “the the great education and bright future of the program.”

Personal

Alison Patricia Flynn was born on October 7, 1991 in Aptos, Calif. She is the daughter of Chuck and Kim Flynn and has one older sister, Kristel. Her father was a member of the crew team at Cal State Long Beach and her grandfather played football at Cal Berkley. Flynn enjoys beach volleyball, skiing, horseback riding, wakeboarding, traveling, rock climbing and just being outdoors. Her love for the outdoors has led her in the direction of becoming an environmental lawyer. Flynn used to ride horses competitively at a high level in the jumping divisions but sold her horse when she was 17 to focus on volleyball.

Academics

Flynn intends to major in environmental studies and is interested in environmental law.
