  • Katherine Nicole Salonga is the daughter of Shelby and Emerson Salonga and was born in Pleasanton, Calif. 
  • Has one younger brother, Josh 
  • Mother, Shelby, played volleyball at Wichita State (1993-1996) 
  • Father, Emerson, played club volleyball at the University of Illinois (1992-1995) 
  • Names her most thrilling sports moment as going undefeated in league play as a senior in high school and the section championship 
  • Favorite pastimes and hobbies include paddle boarding, tanning and hanging out at the beach with friends 
  • Her biggest sports hero is Katie Ladecky because her discipline and work ethic have propelled her to break her own World Records over and over 
  • Wants to travel to Hawaii or any other place with a beach 
  • Favorite foods are Xiao Long Bao and rice, and favorite musician is 21 Savage 
  • Fun Fact: She is a lifeguard, swam competitively for 10 years and made it to the Junior Olympics 
  • After CU, wants to become a NICU nurse or another healthcare field profession 
  • Chose CU because of the high-level academics and athletics, as well as the amazing team culture
