Aaron Fletcher
  • Title:
    Cornerbacks Coach
Aaron Fletcher was named cornerbacks coach at Colorado in January 2026.

Fletcher arrived in Boulder after serving as co-defensive coordinator and cornerbacks coach at Abilene Christian during the 2024 and 2025 seasons. At ACU, he oversaw the secondary and assisted with overall defensive coordination and recruiting operations.

Prior to Abilene Christian, Fletcher served as a defensive analyst at Ole Miss and completed spring and training camp internships in 2023 with the Cincinnati Bengals and Denver Broncos.

Fletcher has extensive Power Five experience, including coaching the secondary at Missouri (2021) and Arizona State (2022), and cornerbacks at Tulsa (2015-20). While at Missouri, the Tigers allowed just 206.7 passing yards per game — ranking 29th nationally despite competing in the SEC — and recorded 11 interceptions, a top-50 national mark. Under his direction, cornerback Kris Abrams-Draine earned All-SEC recognition after transitioning from offense to defense and emerging as one of the conference’s top defensive backs.

Fletcher also played a key role in the development of defensive back Akayleb Evans, who followed him from Tulsa to Missouri and earned invitations to the Senior Bowl and NFL Combine before becoming an NFL Draft selection. At Tulsa, Fletcher helped guide one of the nation’s top pass defenses, including a top-10 national ranking in 2018. The Golden Hurricane ranked in the top five of the American Athletic Conference in pass defense in each of his final three seasons and posted a conference-best 174.6 passing yards allowed per game in 2018, seventh nationally. Reggie Robinson II earned first-team All-AAC honors in 2019 before becoming Tulsa’s highest NFL Draft selection in 15 years.

In addition to his defensive responsibilities, Fletcher has contributed extensively to special teams units, helping Tulsa rank among the NCAA’s top 15 in blocked kicks in both 2018 and 2019.

Fletcher began his collegiate coaching career at Houston Baptist (2012-14), where he helped launch the program and coached the school’s first all-conference selection. Prior to entering the collegiate ranks, he spent six seasons coaching at Dallas-area high schools, including serving as assistant head coach and defensive coordinator at David W. Carter High School. His 2008 Lancaster High School secondary earned national recognition, producing multiple All-Americans and Texas Top 100 recruits.

Throughout his coaching career, Fletcher has mentored multiple NFL defensive backs, including Jalen Mills, Demontre Hurst and Chris Houston, a second-round NFL Draft selection.

Fletcher played collegiately at Ranger Junior College before transferring to Texas A&M-Commerce, where he earned defensive MVP honors and all-conference recognition. He participated in the NFL Pre-Draft Camp and later played professionally in the National Indoor Football League and Arena Football League. He earned his degree in health education from Texas A&M-Commerce in 2003.

A native of Austin, Texas, Fletcher is active in community outreach initiatives and founded “3 and Out Productions,” which focuses on youth development through sports camps and clinics. He and his wife, Tanzania, have two daughters, Anaiya and Taylor, and one son, Aaron Jr.
