Dalton Hengst is the Assistant Distance Coach for the Colorado Buffaloes. He began his coaching career at Colorado after a standout collegiate running career at the University of Tennessee, where he became the first Volunteer to break the four-minute mile and set the school record with a 3:59.71 performance. At Tennessee, he also scored at the SEC Indoor Championships and earned a medal in the 1500 meters at the SEC Outdoor Championships.

Before Tennessee, Hengst competed for five years at the University of Mississippi, where he was a five-time SEC track and field finalist and helped the Ole Miss cross country team win SEC titles in 2018 and 2019. Hengst brings extensive competitive experience and event knowledge to his coaching role, shaped by national-level performances, conference honors, and school records throughout his collegiate career.
