- Senior Deputy Athletic Director
- Email:
Jason DePaepe is in his first year as the Senior Deputy Athletic Director at the University of Colorado, having been promoted from his previous role as Deputy Athletic Director, which he was appointed to in 2020. Now in his 26th year at CU, DePaepe continues to oversee the department’s internal operations—a role he has held since being promoted to Senior Associate Athletic Director on August 1, 2018.
From 2013 to 2018, DePaepe served as Associate Athletic Director for Facilities and Game Day Operations, coordinating game day management and operations for football as well as overseeing CU’s other sport programs. In recognition of his dedication and service, he received the “Honorary C” Award in 2017.
In his current role, DePaepe oversees all staff responsible for the facility and maintenance needs of Folsom Field, the Dal Ward Athletic Center, the Champions Center, Balch Fieldhouse, Prentup Field, Potts Field, the Ford Practice Facility, and the South Campus Tennis Facility. His leadership responsibilities also include human resources, information technology, and CU’s stadium concessionaire, Levy Restaurants.
DePaepe also manages the department’s capital projects, including oversight of the Champions Center Complex expansion (2014–16). Serving as the athletic department’s liaison with Mortenson Construction and Populous, he helped guide the $166 million project, which added more than 326,000 square feet of new space and renovated an additional 38,000 square feet in Dal Ward. Completed in 2015, the six-story Champions Center and Dal Ward renovations were followed by the early-2016 completion of the indoor Ford Practice Facility, featuring an artificial turf football field and a 300-meter, eight-lane track. The facility is net-zero energy, with 850 kW of solar panels generating more electricity than it consumes annually. The overall project remains the largest capital development in CU Boulder athletic history and achieved LEED Platinum certification.
Among DePaepe’s recent projects are the installation of the new scoreboard and ribbon board at the south end of Folsom Field and renovations to Potts Field and the Prentup Soccer Facility. Over his tenure, he has managed more than $200 million in facility upgrades and renovations.
Before joining CU, DePaepe worked for the Baltimore Ravens and previously served in the Iowa State Athletic Department while completing his Bachelor of Science degree in 1999.
Born in North Dakota, DePaepe grew up in Waterloo, Iowa, where he graduated from Waterloo West High School, lettering in baseball and basketball. In his free time, he enjoys travel, golf, and camping. He and his wife have two daughters, ages 12 and 10.
