Adam Salzmann is in his first year as a member of the CU coaching staff, joining after graduating in the spring of 2012.
Salzmann put his name all over the CU Combined Events indoor and outdoor record book. He owns the second fastest indoor time in the 1,000-meter run, is third in the 60 and the 60-hurdles, fourth in the pole vault, sixth in the long jump, eighth in the high jump and ninth in the shot put. He also ranks third in the heptathlon and has the Balch Fieldhouse record in the event. In the decathlon, he has the top time in the 1,500, is third in the pole vault, fourth in the 400 and 110-meter hurdles, sixth in the shot put, eighth in the 100 and ninth in the discus. Overall his mark ranks fifth all-time and is the most for a Buff since 1977.
The Wheat Ridge, Colo. native scored for the Buffs at the Big 12 Indoor and Outdoor and Pac-12 Championships. At the 2012 Pac-12 Championship, he recorded his best finish at a conference meet, placing third in the decathlon and was also seventh in the 400-meter hurdles. During the 2012 indoor season, Salzmann competed unattached at the USATF Indoor Combined Events Championships, placing ninth.
Salzmann lettered in cross country, track & field and golf in high school. He set school records in the 300-meter hurdles, pentathlon and decathlon. Salzmann graduated from CU in 2012 with degrees in integrative physiology and psychology.
