Six first-half Cornhusker goals ruined any hopes Colorado had for an upset win in the initial contest between the Big 12 rivals, but Buff head coach Austin Daniels remained upbeat.
"They are, without a doubt, the best team we've played this year," Daniels said. "They showed us where we want to be."
Colorado drops to 4-6-1 (2-5-0 Big 12) with the loss. Nebraska moves to an unblemished 13-0-0 (5-0-0 Big 12).
Senior Jen Almquist proved to be one bright spot for the Buffaloes, recording her first goal of the season at 81:40 on an assist from Amy Siegel. Jen Worcester added another CU goal at 83:14 on an assist from Almquist.
"We never gave up," Daniels said. "The players played hard all the way through."
Colorado will take the field again Saturday in Colorado Springs when they square off against in-state rival Colorado College. The game is scheduled for 12 p.m. MDT.
