Men's Hoops Knocks Off Montana, 84-71

BOULDER (AP) - James "Mookie" Wright scored a career-high 21 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead the University of Colorado Buffaloes to an 84-71 victory over Montana, Monday night at the Coors Events Conference Center.
Colorado (5-2) set a school record for 3-point field goals and attempts, shooting 16-of-35. Blair Wilson also had a career-high 17 points for Colorado, and Chevis Brimmer added 15 for his own personal best. Wright, Wilson and Brimmer combined for 13 of CU's 3-pointers.
Montana (4-5) had three players in double figures with David Bell scoring 15 points, Brent Cummings added 12 and Dan Trammel chipped-in with 10. The Grizz dropped its fourth game on the road this season.
Montana dominated much of the first half, leading 20-10 with 12:17 remaining, however the Buffs narrowed its deficit to 28-26 with 5:58 left in the first half. It would be their last lead of the game, as Colorado went on to outscore Montana 19-4 in the rest of the half.
Wright moved Colorado to 29-28 on a 3-point basket, Brimmer added two 3-pointers and Wilson tallied a 3-pointer during the run. CU led at the break, 45-32.
The Grizzlies outscored Colorado 17-to-4 in the first 7:05 of the second half and tied it 49-49 with 12:55 remaining.
Tied again at 51-51, Colorado took the lead for good on a 3-pointer by Wilson, which started the Buffs on a 14-2 run. Wilson had three 3-pointers during the run to bring the score to 65-53 with 9:28 remaining.
Montana couldn't get closer than six points for the rest of the game.
Overall, Colorado outrebounded the Grizzlies, 45-31 on the glass.
CU opens a six-game homestand, finishing off its December slate against Southern University this Thursday, Dec. 13 at 7 p.m.
