Final Stats

- CU is now 5-2 in Big 12 road openers.

The 53 points by Colorado was the most scored by either team in the 62-game history of the series (which CU leads, 38-21-3). The 82 combined points also is a series high, topping the 74 scored in a 45-29 Colorado win in Boulder in 1970.

TB Chris Brown. He rushed 25 times for 309 yards and two touchdowns, the third best rushing day in school history (his career high). His 78-yard run for a score was the second longest of his career (to last week's 85-yard TD run against Kansas State). It was his third straight 100-yard plus game; the last time a Buff player had three in row was in 1994, when Rashaan Salaam ended the regular season with nine in a row. It was also the ninth 100-plus day of his career, tied for eighth all-time with Tony Reed and Lamont Warren (five against ranked opponents). Brown's previous career high came last year against Nebraska, when he had 198 yards. The only two better rushing days in CU history: Charlie Davis vs. Oklahoma State, Nov. 13, 1971 (34-342) (complete list on page 188 of CU FB MG) Rashaan Salaam at Texas, Oct. 1, 1994 (35-317)

Brown now has 987 yards in six games, just missing joining Salaam as the only Buffs to hit the 1,000-yard mark for the season in only six games. He also jumped from 19th to 17th on CU's all-time rushing yards list with 1,933 yards; he passed Byron White (1,864) and Bob Stransky (1,868). He is now in position to reach 2,000 yards in just his 19th CU game next week against Baylor, which would be the fastest in school history. His two TD's gives his 158 career points, moving him into a tie for 11th with Charlie Davis and Herchell Troutman.

WR D.J. Hackett. He had his first major college touchdown reception today, his fourth catch of the season. He ended his career at Cal-Northridge by catching a TD pass in 10 straight games, prior to CSU-Northridge eliminating its football program.

The CU defense. Opponents are now only 3-of-9 in third-and-one situations on the season (Kansas was 1-for-2 this afternoon).

Despite allowing 450 total yards, the CU defense did record a season-high 13 tackles for loss.

TE Jesse Wallace made his first career start today, as the Buffs opened in a two-tight end set.

Colorado now has three touchdowns by return this season (via fumble, punt return and Donald Strickland's 95-yard interception return for a score today). That gives CU 22 touchdowns by return in its last 38 games, dating back to the middle of the 1999 season. Strickland's 95-yarder ties for the sixth longest interception return in school history, and the longest since Steve Rosga had a 100-yard return for a score against Oklahoma State in 1996.

Colorado has now won 64 of its last 66 games in which it has, at any point, held a two-score lead. That now includes 24 consecutive times on the road (last loss: at Stanford in 1993).

Colorado is now 49-20-1 on the road since 1988, the nation's sixth best road record; CU is now 14-11 on the road in league games since the Big 12 began in 1996.

CU's 546 yards was a season-high, as well as the 427 rushing yards (the latter being 20th most in school history).

The 98-yard scoring drive by Colorado in the fourth quarter ties for the seventh longest in school history; CU has six 99-yard drives in its history, the last coming at Oklahoma State in 2001.

Quirky Stat of the Game: CU was 5-of-12 on third downs, including 3-of-3 on third-and-8's, with two touchdowns.
