- Tonight marked the first career action for Amber Metoyer and Maria Billingsley. Metoyer scored her first career basket at CU at the 13:58 mark of the second half.
- Linda Lappe made her first start since Jan. 27, 2001 at Iowa State, and first home start since Jan. 3, 2001 against Oklahoma in the Big 12 opener her sophomore year.
- Syreeta Stafford and Kate Fagan made their first home starts. Their first career starts were both on Dec. 29, 2001 against LSU in Lubbock in the Triple Crown Classic.
- Tera Bjorklund had a new career high for free throws made with 11. She also had her first double-double of the season, the fifth of her career, and for the second year in a row opened the season with a double-double.
- Syreeta Stafford earned a career high in scoring with 12 points. Her previous career high was 6. She also snagged a career high three steals, her previous best was two.
- Kate Fagan set a new career high with her 17 points, besting the previous mark of 16 set Jan. 16, 2002 at Kansas.
- CU was 28-32 from the line, their most offensive output from the charity stripe since March 7, 2001 at Missouri when they were 34-44 from the line.
- CU is now 24-5 in season openers and 28-1 in home openers...21-0 in season openers that are also home openers.
- This is just the second time in 10 seasons under Cristy McKinney that Rice has lost a season opener.
