Buffaloes Fall To The Aggies, 75-71

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Allen Haynes hit one of his seven 3-pointers late in the second half to help New Mexico State to a 75-71 win over Colorado on Wednesday night.
Haynes finished with 25 points and was 7 of 12 from the 3-point line. Jason Fontenet added 16 points, included four 3s, and Kelsey Crooks had 11 points for the Aggies.
After slipping behind at the break and struggling at the start of the second half, New Mexico State (2-1) outscored Colorado (2-1) 14-9 in the final four minutes.
The Aggies pulled ahead 66-64 on a 3-pointer from Haynes at the 3:15 mark. Haynes hit another 3 to give the Aggies a 69-66 lead with 31 seconds remaining.
Colorado's David Harrison managed to cut New Mexico State's lead to 69-68, but sharp shooting by the Aggies at the free throw line sealed the win. The Aggies hit 6 of 8 from the line in the last 22 seconds.
Harrison, Colorado's leading scorer, finished with 18 points and 14 rebounds. Michel Morandais added 15 and Blair Wilson had 10.
New Mexico State shot nearly 43 percent for the first five minutes of the game to take an 11-5 lead, but the Buffaloes stayed close with help from Harrison and Morandais.
Colorado took a 39-37 lead at the half as Morandais hit a half-court shot as time ran out. Colorado continued to pressure the Aggies early in the second half with a 10-1 run.
