o UNC is 9-2 in NCAA tournament play when seeded No. 3. The Tar Heels greatest success as a No. 3 seed came in their national title season of 1994 and they advanced to the Sweet 16 from the same slot in 1995.

o The Buffaloes are 17-10 in the Big Dance and 3-1 when playing as a No. 6 seed. Their only other appearance as a No. 6 seed came in 2001 when they won their first round game but were knocked out by Vanderbilt in the second round.
