FAGAN, BJORKLUND PACE BUFFS PAST NO. 24 BAYLOR

WACO, Texas (AP) -- Kate Fagan scored 17 points and Tera Bjorklund added 16 to lead 14th-ranked Colorado to a 69-59 win over No. 24 Baylor in the Big 12 opener for both Wednesday night.
Colorado (12-1) held Baylor to just 28 percent in the field in the first half as the Buffs built a 20-point lead. CU also won the battle of the boards (39-32), led by Bjorklund with nine. Amber Metoyer had eight rebounds, including five offensive, off the bench.
Colorado opened the second half with Fagan's 3-pointer to go in front 39-16. But the Lady Bears reeled off 11 straight points, including seven by Steffanie Blackmon, and Baylor closed to 39-27.
Following a free throw by Bjorklund, the Lady Bears had back-to-back 3-pointers by Emily Niemann and Chelsea Whitaker to narrow Colorado's margin to 40-33 with just over 13 minutes remaining.
But Baylor (12-2) never got any closer. Leading 43-36, the Buffaloes put together an 8-0 run and went ahead 51-36 with nine minutes left.
In all, CU had four players score in double digits. Veronica Johns-Richardson had 13 points while Randie Wirt pitched in 10.
Blackmon led Baylor with 15 points. Sophia Young and Niemann each scored 14 points.
Colorado closed the first half with a 14-2 run and moved ahead 36-16. Baylor's 16 points represented the third lowest first-half offensive output in school history.
