October 03, 2004 | Soccer
COLUMBIA, Mo. - The University of Colorado soccer team held off Missouri for 64 minutes before Elyse Nikonchuk headed a Jennifer Nobis throw-in to send the Buffs back to Boulder on the short end of a 1-0 score at the Audrey J. Walton Track/Soccer Stadium here Sunday.
Â
The loss sends the Buffs back to campus with a 8-3-1 overall record and their second straight Big 12 setback and a 1-2-0 showing in league play.
Â
The Tigers dominated play, out shooting the Buffs 12-5, two on goal, not allowing any one CU player more than one shot in the 90 minute contest. The Buffs only had one shot in the first 40 minutes of play before getting a pair off in the last five minutes of the first half. Five corners were taken between the two programs, both in the first stanza and CU keeper Jessica Keller was forced to make a pair of saves in each half.
Â
Colorado returns to the friendly confines of the Pleasant View Soccer Complex to host a program-best five game homestand, beginning with ninth-ranked Texas A&M on Friday, Oct. 8 in a 4 p.m. kickoff. Homecoming weekend continues Sunday, Oct. 10 when the Buffs host Texas at 1 p.m. The team's annual autograph team poster session will follow the CU/Longhorns match.
