AMES, Iowa ? Junior Allie Griffin had a double-double which included a career-high 18 digs as Colorado swept Iowa State 30-28, 30-25, 30-20 in a Big 12 Conference match Tuesday night at Hilton Coliseum in Ames.
The Buffaloes move to 9-5 overall and 4-3 in the Big 12. ISU falls to 7-7 overall, 1-6 in league play.
Griffin surpassed her previous career high of 12 digs in the first game alone. She netted 13 in the first frame, allowing CU claim a 30-28 win. She had 12 digs in a match twice before, the last earlier this year against Cal State-Northridge. Griffin ended with 14 kills and four blocks as well.
Junior Maragda Santillana led all players with 17 kills and had seven digs. Colorado held Iowa State to .175 on the attack as five Buffs players had at least seven digs. Freshman libero Therese Vinal also registered double-digits in the defensive column with 11 digs. Sophomore Austin Zimmerman hit .529 with nine kills on 17 attacks with no errors.
Colorado will return home to host Kansas on Saturday, Oct. 9, at 7 p.m. at the Coors Events Conference Center.
