Colorado-Nebraska Notes

Quickly. Colorado improves to 7-4 and clinches no worse than second in the Big 12 North; if Missouri defeats Iowa State in Ames tomorrow, CU would claim the Big 12 North title for the third time in four years. Nebraska opened the game with a successful onside kick; the last successful one against the Buffaloes was last year by Oklahoma in Boulder. Colorado scored in the three quarters today, extending its streak to 11. CU is now 11-7 in November under Barnett, 9-3 the last four years (3-0 this year). CU held Nebraska to 67 rushing yards (93 accounting for sacks), the first time NU hasn't rushed for at least 100 against the Buffs since netting 68 in the 1966 game.
The Buffs are 17-3 against North teams dating back to the start of the 2001 conference season; in the same span, Kansas State is 14-6, Nebraska 11-9, *Iowa State 8-11, *Missouri 5-14 and Kansas 4-16; *-ISU and MU finish off the year tomorrow.
Opening Drive. The 90-yard touchdown march on CU's first possession was its third 90-plus yard drive of the season, but was the longest of the year to open a game and just CU's second score all year to open a game (the previous longest drive also yielded the only score: 10 plays for 80 yards vs. CSU).
Scoring Streak. CU added to its school record consecutive games scoring streak, as the Buffs have now scored in 195 straight games dating back to a 7-0 loss at Nebraska in 1988. That streak is the sixth longest in the nation and the longest in the Big 12 (Nebraska is second at 113).
26-7 CU Lead. It was the third biggest margin that CU has ever led by in Lincoln; you have to go back to 1951 (a 36-14 CU win) and 1957 (27-0, Buffs) to find the last two times that CU led by more in Lincoln.
WR Evan Judge. He did not dress for this game, as he is basically recovering from a viral infection that hit him early in the week. It's actually a complex thing called ITP that has to do with a low platelet count; he will be fine, but is out indefinitely. WR Blake Mackey made his first career start in replacing Judge.
100/100. Today marked the 25th time in school history, and the third in 2004, that CU had a 100-yard rusher and receiver in the same game (Bobby Purify 20-130 rushing; Blake Mackey 8-116 receiving, his second 100-yard game). It was just the third time that it has happened in back-to-back games, as Purify and Ron Monteilh did it vs. K-State.
ILB Thaddaeus Washington made his first career interception (in the 2nd quarter), the doubled his career total with his swipe in the 4th.
400. Senior Associate AD Jon Burianek worked his 400th consecutive Colorado football game today, as the streak started in 1970 (when CU won 49-19 at Air Force in the regular season finale). It was also his 200th road game in his CU career. His top 10 games:

Two-Minute Offense. Colorado scored a field goal just prior to halftime to improve to 4-of-5 in the two-minute offense this season. That count also includes last week's game-winning touchdown vs. K-State.
Interceptions. This was only Colorado's second multiple interception game of the season (4 today, 2 vs. Texas); CU's last three and/or four pick game was at Texas Tech last year, when the Buffs had five.
1-2. Colorado returned a favor of sorts today, as the Buffalo victory kept Nebraska from becoming bowl eligible; the Huskers did the same to the Buffs both in 1997 as well as last season.

Notable Statistical Updates:
TB Bobby Purify (22-130, 1 TD). His season total now stands at 1,010, as he is the 13th Buffalo to accomplish the feat (last done by Chris Brown in 2002, with 1,744). It gives him 3,009 for his career, as he moved past Charlie Davis (2,958) into third on CU's all-time rushing yards list, trailing only Eric Bieniemy (3,940) and Rashaan Salaam (3,057). He also became the first player at CU and just the 11th at a Big 12 Conference school to record 3,000 rushing yards and 500 receiving yards in a career. With 3,510 career all-purpose yards (3,009 rush/501 receiving), he passed Salaam (3,482) into No. 4 all-time on that list.
It was also Purify's fifth 100-yard game on the year.
PK Mason Crosby (4-4 FG) now has 24 career field goals, third all-time at Colorado, as only Jeremy Aldrich (48, 1996-99) and Tom Field (36, 1979-83) have made more. Crosby is now 18-of-22 on the season, 25-of-31 in his career, including 15-of-15 from 40 yards and in.
P John Torp. Torp set a CU single-season record for punts inside-the-20, as he had three today for 22 on the season, besting Keith English's 21 in 1988.
