Colorado-Penn Quotes

November 26, 2004 | Women's Basketball

Colorado Head Coach Ceal Barry

ON CU DEFENSE- “Overall our defense was more consistent than last weekend. Until our offense got on track our defense kept us in this game.  They especially created some easy transition baskets in the second half. Our defense gets better every week as more players start to understand it. There were many more solid players defensively on our team tonight, our guards were dropping down and helping out and I think we were playing more team help defense.”

ON IMPROVED OFFENSE- “We got some easy buckets, some easy breaks which were created by our steals. We had some of our shooters hit some key outside shots, and I think its showing we have some great weapons on offense. I feel we are going to need our defense to keep us in some of these games until our offense can come around. Just now they are really coming together as a team, I mean they are all new playing with each other. I feel we got accustomed to seeing the juniors and seniors playing well with each other the past couple of years, these guys are just getting to know one another.”

ON POST PLAYERS- “I think Tami (Garnett) has a good sense of timing for when we need shots. She is a really nice sub for Kara and I think they compliment one another really well.”

ON GAME WITH LSU-“Tomorrow we're going to have to keep our turnovers down. It was good to play a game like tonight, to have some turnovers and survive.”

Forward Leslie Howard

ON SHOOTING PERFORMANCE- “I think basically that tonight I put all my focus and energy into this game.  I shut out everything around me out of my mind and just focused on this game and shooting the ball.”

GENERAL- “I feel that us being a young team you never really know what to expect coming into a game. It is key for us to take our time and especially on offense. We need to move around, be patient and get good shots off.”

Pennsylvania Head Coach Patrick Knapp

GENERAL ? “We didn't play very well, to put it mildly. You can't give the ball away like that and expect to win.”

ON PENN PLAYERS - “Our kids always play hard. I am not upset with them at all. I'm upset with our ability to make quick decisions, our outside shooting, and turnovers. We lost as a team.”

ON PLAYING MARYLAND TOMORROW -  “Hopefully we will make some more shots and execute our offense.”
