Robinson Named CU Athlete of the Week

BOULDER- Return specialist Stephone Robinson earned CU Athlete of the Week honors this week after he returned a punt 48-yards for his first career touchdown Saturday in Lawrence, Kan. as he and the Colorado football team defeated the Jayhawks 30-21.
The red shirt freshman had 98 return yards (65 punt and 33 kickoff) for the Buffs, and he came up big in the third quarter giving CU a 24-21 lead late in the third quarter off of his 48-yard punt return. The Denver (Mullen) native was also name Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week for his outstanding effort Saturday.
Robinson will look to continue his recent success returning the ball Saturday, Nov. 13 as he and the rest of the CU football team play host to Big 12 north rival Kansas State in an attempt become bowl eligible and remain in the Big 12 North Title race.
Others nominated for this week's award were EDWARD MCGLASSON (Men's Golf), ASHLEY NU'U (Volleyball), and FRAN MUNNELLY (Soccer).
Men's Golf: Edward McGlasson, Junior, Orange, Calif.
Playing in his home state, McGlasson won the mental battle in the final round of The Prestige, as he was one of just six players to shoot par or better. He matched par on the 7,156-yard, par-72 Greg Norman Course at PGA West to finish with a 223 total (7-over), recording CU's best individual finish this fall in tying for fifth place.
Volleyball: Ashley Nu'u, Sophomore, Aurora, Colo.
Nu'u had five block assists and eight kills in the Buffs loss to no. 10 Texas 30-19, 29-31, 30-17, 30-19 Wednesday. This past Sunday, she had three kills and two digs in another loss, to No. 14 Texas A&M. The 30-24, 30-23, 30-22 defeat lowered CU's record to 11-11 overall and 6-9 in the Big 12 as they remain in sixth place in the conference standings.
Soccer: Fran Munnelly, Junior, Arvada, Colo.
Munnelly converted two penalty kicks in as many games and the scores improved her standings on CU's all-time career charts to become the school's all-time career points leader with 62, surpassing Melissa Cartmell (1997-00) who had 61. Her first PK, against Missouri in the Big 12 Tournament's quarterfinal round, proved to be the game-winner in the 98th minute of the overtime contest. Her second, two nights later, prevented a shutout by Texas A&M in the semifinal round of the tournament.
