Colorado-Northern Colorado Quotes

December 29, 2004 | Women's Basketball

Colorado Head Coach Ceal Barry

ON SECOND HALF ? “We played a very consistent second half. We were more consistent in the zone and I want us to get more consistent out of the zone too.”

ON INSTATE RIVALRY ? “This (Northern Colorado games) could definitely turn into a rivalry. I would

like us to play more games without taking a plane. It would be nice to make trips of one hour, 45 minutes. [Northern Colorado] is a well coached and well disciplined team. They are the kind of team that will help us prepare for conference play.”

ON TEAM IMPROVEMENT ? “We executed better this game than we did at Washington. We were in the zone. Most of our shots came out of the offense and assists which was nice to see. [The defense was] better this week. (Sarah) Lini helps on the floor with her communication and sense of urgency on defense. You can really hear her leading on the floor. We take [the game] more seriously. We're not perfect, but with experience, we'll get better.

Forward Anna Nedovic

GENERAL ? “We moved the ball quickly tonight. We were able to make extra passes before [Northern Colorado] got to us so we were able to shoot the ball batter. I was never pressured with the ball. We knew they were going to guard Kara [Richards] and Jackie [McFarland] hard in the post because [Northern Colorado] was smaller. When this happened, I knew we'd shots off outside.”

ON DEFENSE ? “Our defense was not good tonight. We were beat on the penetration. Northern Colorado is small and quick and they penetrated well. They were always cutting. They are a very fast team. We were standing around too much on offense and should have been up by more than we were.”

ON RIVALRY ? “This could be like our rivalry with Colorado State. [Northern Colorado's] offense is good and they have a fast team.”

Guard Veronica Johns-Richardson

ON THIS SEASON ? “I'm playing guard this year, so my shots are at the top of the key and from the corner. My shots are in rhythm with the offense and it helps me stay in the flow. The team offense and execution is in my hands. Coach [Ceal Barry] and the team have a lot of faith in me and that helps get the ball in. I'm just playing my game, being me, and doing what's necessary for the team.”
