DOUBLES DOMINATE AS BUFFS TOP TIGERS

Strong doubles play set the tone for the day as Colorado upset No. 40 Missouri 4-3 in a Big 12 women's tennis match Saturday afternoon.
CU won all three doubles matches, led by the Buffs' No. 1 duo of Morgan Sall and Jessica Vanderdys. The Sall/Vanderdys tandem moved to 4-0 this spring by defeating Missouri's No. 30 ranked doubles team of Urska Juric and Katka Sevcikova, 8-6. Jenny Hanson and Martina Sedivec also remained unbeaten this spring (3-0), cruising to an 8-4 win over Mary Barry and Erika Josbena at No. 3 doubles.
"It was a great team effort," CU head coach Nicole Kenneally said. "We talk about all nine positions playing hard and all nine did."
Lynzee Kever and Kendra Strandemo teamed up for the first time this spring at No. 2 doubles defeating Missouri's Lucie Ruskova and Hana Kraftova, 8-4.
In singles, Vanderdys picked up her team-leading 12th overall win of 2003-04, taking care Sevcikova in three sets (7-6, 5-7, 6-1) at the No. 2 position. Strandemo swept Missouri's Yelena Olshanskaya 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3 singles. The Buffs clinched the match at No. 6 singles where Kristy Randono held off Josbena 6-3, 4-6, 6-3.
Kever, the Big 12 Player of the Week last week, dropped a tight match to No. 30 ranked Juric 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 at No. 1 singles.
"All of the kids fought hard," Kennally said. "Even the three that lost, all put themselves in a position to win. They played to the best of their ability tonight giving us the best shot to win."
CU will resume Big 12 action by hosting Kansas State on Sunday, Feb. 29, at 2 p.m.
