BOULDER, Colo. -- Antoine McGee scored seven of 10 points in overtime and David Harrison had 21 points and 15 rebounds to lead Colorado to a 94-87 victory over Oklahoma Wednesday night at the Coors Events Center.
Blair Wilson had 18 points and Michel Morandais added 14 for
“Great team win,” head coach Ricardo Patton said. “We talked about at halftime that OU is a battle-tested team and we knew that they would continue to battle.
“I think we have started to realize that defense is important and for the most part we've become more unselfish. These two things have really helped us become a better basketball team. “
Jason Detrick had 35 points for
McGee scored the first five points in the extra frame as
Glenn Eddy sealed the win with a layup and free throw with
The Buffs led 41-36 at the half and by as much as 60-43 after a 3-pointer and basket by Marcus Hall with
“We had some inopportune turnovers and we just made some mental mistakes down the stretch,” Patton said. “You can't put teams away making mistakes at critical times. I think the turnovers hurt us, we took some bad shots and bad shots are like turnovers, they're just empty possessions.”
After losing a 17-point lead late in the game, the Buffs fell behind the Sooners, but tied the score with 2.3 seconds remaining. Guard Jayson Obazuaye, who won the Buff's game against Kansas State two weeks ago with a last second shot, was fouled driving to the hoop. He converted on one-of-two free throws to send the game into overtime.
From there, it was all Buffs and McGee.
Colorado now travels to College Station, Texas, to take on Texas A&M at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
