CU WOMEN's TENNIS DEFEATS AIR FORCE, 6-1

WESTMINSTER ? Freshman Lynzee Kever led five other Colorado women's tennis players to straight set victories leading the Buffaloes to a 6-1 win over the United States Air Force Academy, Saturday night at the Ranch Country Club Courts in Westminster.

 

The Buffaloes ranked No. 57 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll won for the second straight time improving to 2-2, while Air Force drops to 2-2. CU won for the sixth straight time over the Falcons in six meetings.

 

“It was a good team effort with intensity throughout the match,” said CU head coach Nicole Kenneally. “Air Force is always great competition for us and we're excited to start conference play next weekend.”

 

Kever, Jessica Vanderdys, Martina Sedivec and Morgan Sall all swept singles slots No. 1 through No. 4 along with Kristy Randono at No. 6.

 

CU took a 1-0 lead sweeping the doubles competition. Sall and Vanderdys took No. 1, 8-6 along with Randono and Sedivec at No. 2, 8-5; Kever and Jenny Hanson won at No. 3, 8-2.

 

The women's tennis team would also like to announce that assistant coach Mike Haber and his wife, Tanya, became proud parents of its newest addition to the family. Daughter, Johanna Sasha was born Saturday night at 7:56 p.m. weighing in at six pounds and eight ounces. It's the first child for the Haber family.

 

CU opens the Big 12 season this weekend with four straight home matches starting with Texas Tech on Saturday, Feb. 14 and Texas on Feb. 15. Both matches will be played at the Harvest House starting at 2 p.m.
