BOULDER - The most decorated player in University of Colorado soccer history, junior midfielder Fran Munnelly (Arvada, Colo.), has had her playing resume expanded with an invitation to the Under-21 National Team Camp, Jan. 23-30 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.

The oldest of the youth national teams, the U-21 team camps will progress monthly through July when 18 players (from a national team pool of 30-50 players) are named to the Nordic Cup Team. That team will travel to Sweden later that month to face the toughest competition from around the world in that age group. The United States has won the last six Nordic Cups.

"I'm pretty excited about the opportunity," said Munnelly. "It will be chance to just go out and play and not have to worry about if we're winning or losing."

Several current National Team members, players on both the World Cup and Olympics team, have played on a Nordic Cup Team over the course of their respective careers.

"This is a great honor for Fran. She's worked all her life for an opportunity like this. Fortunately for us, she's a Buff and will be representing CU on the national level," said Colorado head coach Bill Hempen.
