Colorado Falls to Oklahoma, 77-61

February 16, 2005 | Women's Basketball

Freshman forward Jackie McFarland started the third game of her career and responded by tying her personal best with 23 points, but Colorado fell to Oklahoma 77-61 Wednesday night at the Coors Events/Conference Center.

McFarland also tied career highs in field-goals made (eight), free-throws attempted (10) and steals (two).  Senior point guard Veronica Johns-Richardson was CU's only other scorer in double digits with 11.

Colorado (8-15, 1-11 Big 12) hung tough for the first 25 minutes.  Down by eight at the half, the Buffaloes cut the lead to one with 15:12 remaining in the game, but Oklahoma (14-9, 6-6 Big 12) closed out the game on a 34-19 run.

Oklahoma was lead by Leah Rush who scored 19 points.  Three other Sooners also scored in double digits.

The loss was Colorado's eighth in a row and 11th in the last 12 games. It is CU's first eight-game losing streak since the end of the 1984-85 season.  The Buffs will now travel to the “Little Apple”, Manhattan, Kan., to take on the 18th ranked Kansas State Wildcats on Saturday, Feb. 19, a 5 p.m. MST.
