
Women's Tennis Edged at No. 35 Illinois, 4-3

URBANA, Ill. ? The University of Colorado women's tennis team dropped a hard fought match Friday evening at the University of Illinois, 4-3 at the Atkins Tennis Center. CU drops to 5-2, while the Fighting Illini improves to 5-3.
The loss halts the Buffaloes' winning streak at four their longest under head coach Nicole Kenneally since the 2000-01 season.
Senior Kendra Strandemo won her third straight match and remained unbeaten at the No. 2 singles slot rallying from a set down, 2-6, however came back in straight sets 6-1, 6-2. Junior Jessica Vanderdys and sophomore Martina Sedivec picked up the other singles points for the Buffaloes.
Vanderdys won her fourth match of the dual match season taking a straight-set winner at No. 3, 6-3, 6-3, along with Sedivec at No. 5 for her fifth victory with a two-set winner, 6-3, 6-1.
Colorado looks to rebound on Saturday afternoon with another nationally ranked opponent against No. 48 Western Michigan (5-1) in a match played at the University of Illinois.
