BOULDER-- Junior tennis standout Chad Tsuda earned University of Colorado Athlete of the Week honors for the second time in three weeks after he won all three of his singles matches during the week with one victory each at the No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 positions at Boise State University.
The Boulder, Colo. (Fairview) native helped the Buffaloes go 1-2 during the weekend play defeating Idaho (5-1), and falling to No. 31 Boise State (4-3) and to No. 50 South Alabama (5-2). Tsuda improved his spring season record to 11-3, a team-high for wins this dual season. He has also won eight of his last nine matches with six of them in straight sets.
For the season, Tsuda has won 16 singles matches and 42 for his career. The CU men are No. 52 nationally and 8-9 on the season.
Others nominated for this week's award were Amberly Casey (women's track and field), and Zach Hazen (men's track and field).
Women's Track and Field: Amberly Casey, Sophomore, Boulder, Colo.
The sophomore finished second in the long jump with an NCAA regional qualifying mark and season best jump of 19-6.25 in the event at the Tom Benich Classic on the Northern Colorado campus Saturday. Casey followed that up with a third place, personal record triple jump of 38-8.25.
