AUSTIN, Texas ? The 18^th-ranked University of Texas Longhorns defeated the Colorado Buffaloes 30-16, 27-30, 30-22, 30-19 in Austin, Texas, as both teams opened their Big 12 Conference schedules.

The Buffs fell to 4-2 overall and are 0-1 in the Big 12 while the Longhorns are 6-1 overall and 1-0 in the Big 12. Senior right side Allie Griffin hammered a team-high 17 kills for CU and just missed a double-double with nine digs. Sophomore outside hitter Amber Sutherland recorded 15 kills and eight digs in the loss. Junior middle blocker Lara Bossow hit a team-high .556 with 11 kills on 18 attempts with just one error.

The Longhorns received 24 kills form Leticia Armstrong and she hit .529. Brandy Magee also came up big for Texas as she added 18 kills.

Colorado is back in action on Saturday night as the Buffs host the top-ranked Nebraska Huskers. Nebraska is 8-0 heading into the match-up. The match is slated for a 7 p.m. start at the Coors Events Center.
