MBB Enters Top-25 Poll for First Time Since 1996-97 Season
January 30, 2006 | Men's Basketball
BOULDER - The University of Colorado men's basketball team, currently 15-3 overall and 5-2 in the Big 12 Conference, is the No. 25 nationally ranked team in the latest ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll (week 13) with 54 votes.
CU currently sits in second place in the Big 12 standings, is riding a five-game winning streak their longest in the conference since the 1996-97 season.
The Buffaloes are not ranked in the Associated Press poll, however are receiving votes with 83 and rank No. 27 overall.
The ranking is the first for the CU men's basketball program since the 1996-97 season when they were ranked as high 15th in Associated Press and 16th in the coaches poll. Entering the NCAA Tournament against North Carolina back on March 15, 1997, the Buffs were last ranked 18th in AP and 23rd in the coaches polls.
The Buffaloes are idle until Sunday, Feb. 5 when they travel to Iowa State (13-7, 3-4 Big 12).
Here's a Marcus Hall update since he was carried off the court on a stretcher in Saturday night's win over Kansas State. Hall was released from Boulder Community Hospital Saturday night and received IV fluids. There were no spinal injuries and he is suffering from lower back spasms. Hall is listed as day-to-day.
