Colorado-Cal State Northridge Quotes

Colorado Head Coach Kathy McConnell-Miller

“They came in here and really battled with us, I really like their squad and I thought they challenged us for 40 minutes on every end of the floor. I think we did a really nice job of keeping our composure, we had some young groups out there that turned the ball over but I thought when we needed a bucket, players stepped up and hit key shots. We handled ourselves better than we have in the last few games. I thought we rebounded the ball well. Our decision-making in the second half was better but we still turned the ball over far more than we need to. We had a lot of different combinations, but eventually we'll get settled into a rotation, but we're not there yet.”
On Turnovers
“We made really bad decisions. We turned the ball over for four consecutive possessions. It really changed the tempo and didn't allow us to take the chances that we normally take on the offensive and defensive end. A lot of the turnovers I thought were unforced, I thought we were trying to take a lot of chances, and at times tried to be a little too fancy. The turnovers throughout the game kept us from going on too many runs.”
On Half-Time Adjustments
“We talked about the offense they were running and how we were going to guard it. I was excited about the charges we had taken. As far as the players came out, I think they were a little more settled and the combinations were better and Jackie [McFarland] stepped up on the offensive end.”

“There were a couple of offensive fouls and some travels, I think part of the time we just got the ball in bad positions, we tried to make something from nothing. We got a lot of travels called and I don't think they were bad turnovers, it's just something you give and take throughout the game.”
On Double-Double
“I just play hard. It's not something I think about during the game. We've done a lot of drills in practice on boxing out. Coach has stressed offensive boards in practice. It's training and playing hard and getting the ball to bounce your way.”

“It felt good to see our shots going in, it helped our confidence on the defensive end, going down and having that cushion to play harder.”
On Confidence
“It was a big confidence boost to me, just knowing that I can play and proving to myself and to the coaching staff that I am an asset to this team. It's nice knowing that I can score.”
Cal State Northridge Head Coach Staci Schulz

“I thought it was a good game with the exception of four to eight minutes in the first half, which everyone would agree on. We didn't control our emotions; that's the bottom line. Every position on
On Outstanding
“Jasmina Ilic hurt us a lot more than we expected her to. She had a lot of shots. I think she's just getting into her season. [Jackie] McFarland and Kara Richards were very strong. They were too mobile for us. We weren't able to control them.”
