Skier Christiansen To Be Featured In The Sporting News

February 07, 2006 | Skiing

ST. LOUIS - What is it really like to be the Big Man or Big Woman on campus? Sporting News magazine sent its college bloggers out on an assignment they couldn't refuse - tag along with a college athlete for a day.  Their mission: to find out what a day in the life is like for a college athlete. This series of profiles will appear in the February 17th issue of the award-winning magazine and will hit newsstands around the country on Wednesday, February 8th.

Justin Coons, CU Campus Press sports editor, profiled University of Colorado Nordic skier Erling Christiansen.  A senior and three-time letterman, Christiansen played a pivotal role in Colorado securing the victory in its own CU Invitational/Laura Sharpe Flood Memorial Ski meet, the Buffs' first win since 2003.  The Buff skiers are currently ranked No. 2 in the nation.

Whether it's an early morning workout with the team, hitting the dining hall with friends, playing video games with roommates or late night study sessions - Sporting News' college bloggers will give readers a glimpse into an athlete's college experience as well as their personality and quirks.

Athletes profiled in the February 17th issue include Christiansen, Stephen McGee (Texas A&M, Football), Terrence Roberts (Syracuse, Basketball), Dana Kirk (Stanford, Swimming), Omarr Conner (Mississippi State, Football), Matt Every (Florida, Golf), Kristen Kjellman (Northwestern, Lacrosse), and Colin Curtis (Arizona State, Baseball).   Others will appear online only.
