Colorado-Kansas State Notes

January 31, 2007 | Women's Basketball

  • Colorado now has equaled its overall and Big 12 Conference win totals from the 2005-06 season.  The Buffs were 9-21, 3-13 in league play.
  •  Colorado is now 9-3 at home, its best mark since going 14-2 in 2003-04.
  •  The 15-point halftime deficit Colorado overcame to post the win is the second-largest in team history. The Buffaloes came back from 19 down against the University of Washington on Dec. 21, 1982, at the Giusti Tournament in Portland, Ore. CU trailed 35-16 at halftime before winning 67-65.
  •  A more-recent double-digit halftime deficit overcome was a 12-point margin against the University of Texas on Feb. 19, 2000. CU trailed the Longhorns 38-26 at the Coors Events Center before prevailing 79-65.
  • The Buffaloes break a five-game overall losing streak and an eight-game slide against Kansas State. The eight-game skid against Kansas State had been tied with Texas for the team's longest current skid against a Big 12 team. Texas' win over CU earlier this season gave the Longhorns eight straight wins in the series.
  • During Colorado's 23-0 run in the second half Kansas State was 0-12 from the field with six turnovers. Kansas State's 16 second-half points were the fewest the Buffaloes have allowed in one half this season.
  • Jackie McFarland had 19 points and 11 rebounds for her 32nd career double-double and 13th of the season. Her 32 double-doubles rank third on CU's all-time list. Her 13 double-doubles this season, second in the Big 12, are fifth on the CU single-season list. McFarland had 14 double-doubles last season.
  • Freshman Whitney Houston had a career-high 17 points on a personal-best seven field goals. She also tied career highs with three steals and 13 field goal attempts.
  • Sophomore Hannah Skildum set a career high with five assists.
  • Senior Jasmina Ilic scored nine points to leave her just 15 away from the 1,000-point mark. She is 21st on the CU all-time scoring list with 985 points.
